Take advantage of good weather to cruise the canal that links Brecon with Newport. The area is steeped in history with some of Europe s finest surviving castles, Brecon Castle (0.5 miles) overlooking the River Usk, Abergavenny Castle (20.6 miles) and Crickhowell Castle (14 miles) set against the spectacular hills. Local attractions include The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works (both 24 miles) and the National Showcaves Centre (19 miles), BikePark Wales (20 miles), and Zip World Tower (21 miles). Forming part of a pretty terrace on the front of the River Honddu, which you can cross to visit the Brecon Cathedral, this traditional cottage has a side entrance offering a warm welcome with a pretty courtyard. Step inside to the entrance hall where you will find space for coats and boots.
