"The Granary offers good value relative to costs (a week for £500 in the second week of September) but is a little tired and not ideally suited to older people or families with very young children as the two bedrooms are upstairs while the single family shower room/toilet downstairs is accessed by steep and very creaky stairs."
The induction hob was cracked across one corner, with no immediate replacement in prospect, accompanied by a warning notice to take care to avoid sharp edges along the length of the crack when cleaning. The TV is quite small and out-of-date requiring us to order a next day delivery plug-in Firestick from Amazon so that we could stream Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube, ITV X, BBC iPlayer and other streaming services. Both the damaged induction hob, and the TV, should be replaced as a matter of urgency/priority. The mattresses on the beds were thin and lumpy, okay for young families maybe, but not for older people with aches and pains. No torch was provided but one is needed to safely navigate the car park which is reached along the stone-flagged garden pathway and steeply sloped driveway some distance from the property (a large pampas grass overhanging the very narrow sharply curved driveway needs trimming back to avoid brushing door mirrors and bodywork). The car park itself was not lit in an area of dark skies without street lighting apart from one or two bollard lights on the driveway. The property, which is reached via a narrow and and in wet weather very puddled and muddy lane with no passing places off the main B3314 Wadebridge to Delabole road, is not easy to find with SatNav postcode directions falling well short of the Tregwarmond Mill development of which The Granary is part. What3Words is recommended, but not included with the property directions, unless very familiar with this location which is situated in isolated country about 3 miles from Rock. It would be particularly difficult to find at night, especially in poor weather conditions.
Thank you for your feedback. We agree it is extremely good value! The property is full of character and the location in this part of Cornwall is typically surrounded by lanes which become muddy at times. Along with the nil light pollution - this can be considered as part of the appeal by other guests, however, we understand that the cottage and location may not be suitable for your own requirements which can be difficult to find in this part of the county, therefore it is worth having a chat with us before you book - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. The cottage sleeps five guests in two very nice bedrooms, perfect for a family.
The additional outside shed is great for storing all of your beach paraphernalia and a water tap for washing off sandy toes, wetsuits and the dog.
On returning to this tranquil cottage you will find the homely and well-furnished open plan kitchen/ sitting room with French doors leading to the garden, handy for those alfresco family dinners and drinks on the warmer days.
