Gable Cottage has had a recent makeover in 2021, making it a beautiful two bedroom Cotswolds getaway with lots of character features, including stone mullion windows and an inglenook fireplace all under a Cotswold stone slate roof. Set within the picturesque village of Longborough, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which has a community owned village shop with a café selling local organic produce and a great pub.
This Grade II listed, pretty cottage has been lovingly finished with the guests’ needs in mind. The open-plan living and dining room enjoys a stunning inglenook fireplace with an open fire to cosy up in front of on a chillier evening. The well-equipped kitchen has all you need to rustle up a hearty breakfast before going off to explore the area. With a shower room on the ground floor and bathroom on the first floor, its very comfortable and spacious. To the side of Gable Cottage is a lovely private garden where you can enjoy your meals al fresco or an evening drink chatting about your daily adventures. Whether you are looking for a quick weekend break or to enjoy the cottage for a week or more, this is a great cottage and base to enable you to explore the delights of the Cotswolds.
There are lovely walks into the countryside from the doorstep and close by is the Longborough Festival Opera, which stages performances throughout the summer months. There are many local towns and villages to discover including Moreton-in-Marsh, 3 miles, where you can catch the train to London Paddington (90 minutes), and Stow-on-the-Wold, 4 miles, both towns with many local amenities, independent shops, restaurants and a regular market.
Batsford Arboretum, Broadway Tower and Daylesford Farm Shop and Spa are all fabulous places to visit during your stay. For a day at the races you are spoilt for choice, with Cheltenham, famous for it’s festival, only 19 miles away. Other towns of interest and worth a stop off or a day trip are Bourton-on-the-Water, with its shallow river meandering through the centre, Chipping Norton, Banbury, Burford, the historic university city of Oxford, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, with its many tourist attractions, and Warwick with it’s fabulous castle.
