Weather was superb, the house was so comfy and clean, and our host Mary went above and beyond to make sure our week was perfect, would definitely recommend this property to family and Friends and we will definitely be coming back to Hirfron in the near future.

"Hirfron is clean, comfortable and in an ideal location to explore North Wales."
There was a lovely welcome pack left for us on arrival and Mary checked in on us and asked if everything was OK, and if we needed anything , to just let her know as she was only a couple of minutes away. Clear instructions and information for the house and the surrounding area was covered. Even though we did not have the best of weather, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hirfron and, if revisiting North Wales, would definitely stay again. Thank you Mary, for letting us stay in this super house.

"Lovely homely property in an excellent location."
The host Mary was so warm and welcoming. She very kindly checked in with us to make sure everything was OK and was so thoughtful to leave us bread,milk etc upon arrival. The house was well clean and cosy. There is everything you could possibly need for a week away, clearly a lot of thought has gone into the little touches. We plan to stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed a week staying at Hirfron. Mary supplied us with a fantastic welcome basket and the house is fully stocked with cleaning products and essential cooking condiments, which was most appreciated. The house is perfectly placed in Llanberis which itself is also perfectly placed in Snowdonia.

"What an amazing host and place to stay."
The property has everything you need for a comfortable vacation. On arrival there was a large welcome basket, which was a lovely treat. Being able to have a cuppa and slice of excellent Barra Brith on arrival was a fabulous start to our week.
The cottage is very central, being able to go up Snowdon and other lovely walks without taking the car.

"Great location with everything in walking distance and beautiful scenery."
Instructions are provided for everything and there is plenty of information on local amenities and attractions. The owner is lovely and everything you need from soap in the bathroom to tin foil, kitchen roll, tea, coffee in the kitchen. Would definitely stay here again next time with visit North Wales.

It is well located within Llanberis, right in the heart of the village with easy access to the lake, shops and fells. The host, Mary was amazingly helpful and made sure we were all settled in OK even leaving a welcome box of food items. I can't recommend Hirfon highly enough, it is perfect, 10/10

"Property was in a great spot in the centre of Llanberis - everything was accessible on foot (shops, restuarant, Llyn Padarn, Mountain Railway etc) so it was nice to park the car and leave it there!"
Would have been useful to have the house name on the rear of the property as confirmation that we were parking in the right spot. Easy to access the property from rear parking space. Keysafe system and access was all straightforward and as per instructions. House had plenty of space for 5 of us (2 adults, three children). Note that the single room has a narrower bed (ie not a standard single.)
Goodies left to welcome us were appreciated (kids were very happy!) - thanks for those. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, peppper are all provided. There was butter and milk in fridge and bread provided too.
Bedrooms - beds were comfortable, note that there are many feather pillows and this unfortunately aggravated my allergies, leaving me wheezing for our stay. The double bed has a King size duvet which meant it was very heavy due to hanging so far down the sides.
Cleaning was mainly good. Heating was good, would be needed less if some of the draughty holes were filled in though! Big cold gusts coming in down the side of the cooker and through cupboards in middle living room - lots of dust blown through too so games and books were all covered in it - these need cleaning up.
Lovely friendly owner popped in to check we were ok.
Overall, a lovely place to say, and very well placed if you're running Snowdonia Marathon!

The location is terrific for walking in the National Park and Llanberis is relatively unspoiled compared to other more 'touristy' places. The welcome pack was really lovely and we both put on weight eating the delicious Bara Brith! The owners were really attentive in a helpful way ensuring we were warm enough etc. Will definitely return to this one, very good value indeed.

The cottage is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and surprisingly large inside.
Mary gave us a very warm welcome and I doubt if you will find a more generous welcome pack anywhere in Wales.
This is the second time we have stayed at Hirfron and would definitely recommend it.

It is exceptionally clean and well maintained throughout with a modern kitchen and bathroom as well as a convenient parking space and storage for cycles etc. Several cafes, pubs and restaurants are within easy walking distance as is the local supermarket.

The cottage is comfortable and cosy and Mary and Ian are the perfect hosts. Lovely Mary rang us a couple of days before and then met us on arrival to show us how things worked. The welcome pack went above and beyond and included bread, milk, butter, jam, home made welsh cakes amongst other things! We had a really fab time.

The property
Hirfron is a spacious end of terrace holiday cottage, situated in Llanberis in Snowdonia.
It has been finished with functionality and comfort in mind.
Deep pile carpets and squishy seating makes it ideal for resting aching limbs after a day of exploring the Snowdonia National Park, which is on the doorstep.
The kitchen has all you need to make a self catering break easy, including a large Range cooker, fridge freezer and microwave.
The washing machine is located in the external utility room.
The large dining area has been decorated to make a feature of the original built in range, although it’s not for use!
A cosy sitting room is located at the front of the cottage with cosy sofas, an electric fire, TV and music system.
There’s another sitting room at the back of the cottage which is ideal for the age old holiday pastime - board games!
Here is an electric fire, sofa and a small dining table.
On the first floor are three bedrooms; a double room, a single room with 2'6'' mattress and another bedroom with zip and link beds made up as twins as standard but can be a king size by prior request.
There is a family bathroom on the first floor with a shower over the bath, loo and hand basin.
At the back of the cottage there is a paved garden with seating and the external utility room and storage space for bicycles and area to hang soggy coats and boots.
There is off road parking for one car.
This is a holiday cottage in the ever-popular village of Llanberis in Snowdonia.
From here you can easily climb a mountain or hop on a train to head up Snowdon.
Wander around quarries, browse in the shops, take a tip to the castle, tour Electric Mountain, or get out on the lake in your kayak!
Whilst the delights of Snowdonia are just on your doorstep, including beaches, attractions and a myriad of activities, you could also head further afield onto Anglesey or the Llyn Peninsula too.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
