Perhay is a delightful country cottage and has been refurbished by the owner to provide very good quality holiday accommodation in a beautiful rural setting only a few miles drive from the coast and the bustling West Dorset market town of Bridport. Located along a farm track in the small West Dorset hamlet of Waytown, about 5 miles from the coastal fishing harbour of West Bay and just a 10 minute walk from the original River Cottage where Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall`s TV career was first launched. The cottage is set in a small terrace of four former farm cottages in exceptionally beautiful and peaceful countryside. On a clear night the lack of light pollution makes it the perfect spot for star-gazing. The hamlet has a traditional country pub (about 5 minutes walk by footpath from the cottage) and is a haven for walkers with a network of footpaths covering the surrounding countryside. The cottage is just a short drive to the sea and the whole of the stunning West Dorset and East Devon coastline, famous for its Jurassic fossils, is within easy reach. There are many quiet villages to be discovered in the surrounding countryside and Bridport with its shops and cafes is just a few minutes drive away.
The charm and character of the original farm cottage has been retained as part of a sympathetic renovation - there is a flagstone floor downstairs and exposed beams throughout. The attractive master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and enjoys views across miles of open countryside. A second bedroom has 3ft twin beds and there is a third single bedroom allowing the cottage to accommodate up to 5 guests in comfort. The cottage benefits from lovely rural views from most of the rooms and the rear patio (with BBQ and furniture) looks onto open fields. There is also a secure small sunny garden at the front of the house. The cosy wood burner in the lounge will make this cottage a great choice for couples and families all year round and from time to time the friendly owners will have fresh produce from their garden available. Guests are also free to use a nearby field area for picnics.
