You can find a wider selection of activities just a bit further out, like the awesome Heights of Abraham, famous for its landmark cable car which provides an incredible journey across the Derwent Valley for those feeling brave. There are countless things to do in the Peak District, but make sure one of them is staying at The Old Cow Shed for a relaxing break with your loved one.

Alstonefield lies on the borders of Derbyshire and Staffordshire between the valleys of the Dove and the Manifold rivers and has won the ‘Best Kept Village Award’ ten times, (most recently in 2005), and was in the final for the ‘National Village of the Year’ in 1998, which is a remarkable achievement for such a small place. There is a pub set on the village green, and the surrounding area is perfect for walkers and cyclists. Slightly further afield are the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek.
