A pair of private, romantic shepherds' huts with incredible walks straight from your door and a good pub close by. Hand crafted by the owner from local hillside timber, Spring Farm's authentic shepherds hut, winners of a county award, are situated in a hawthorn fringed meadow, which becomes a sea of bluebells in late spring. With a stunning panoramic view down the whole length of the Bryn Awr Valley to the Brecon Beacons one of the loveliest vistas in Wales. Crickhowell, is just a short drive away with great independent shops, pubs and coffee shops. In the market town of Abergavenny, you will find a Norman Castle, farmers' markets and the fabulous Food Festival each September. Brecon, Hay on Wye, Cardiff and Hereford are all in easy reach, as well as Wales Industrial Heritage sites in Blaenavon. Nearby attractions include The River Usk in Crickhowell for trout and salmon fishing with day licenses from The Bridge Inn Pub. The River Cafe in Glasbury is the top canoe rental spot co located with Wye Valley Canoes. There are also a selection of good riding centres within easy reach. The first hut has picture windows on both sides and pastel shaded panelled walls, whilst its blissfully soft double bed has generous storage space beneath. A table and two comfy armchairs complete the furnishings, together with a wood burner to keep you toasty in the winter months. The adjoining second hut has two rooms which comprise of a fully fitted kitchen complete with stove, oven and fridge. There is a separate bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin and loo. The shepherds' huts are positioned within 30 acres of the owner's farm and smallholding, which was awarded a certificate of recognition at the Powys Business Awards, offering a welcoming greeting with lots of friendly animals on site. The owners are always on hand to help with anything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Outside the huts, there is a private enclosed garden area with neighbouring livestock, garden furniture and a fire pit which is perfect for toasting marshmallows. Need to know: "BLUE" The Chef & Shower Hut : A gas stove and hob, sink, small fridge, storage space, cutlery, crockery and everything else you would need to rustle up a decent meal at one end, alongside breakfast bar and stools. The other end houses the proper shower, flushing loo, a basin and soft fluffy towels. There is a separate door into each end. "BELLE" The Snoozing Hut sleeping two, plus a young baby (please provide your own travel cot). A wood burner with logs included, double bed with fresh cotton bedding, two fire side chairs and table. THE GARDEN: Set within hundreds of acres of natural farmland, the huts are totally private and sit within their own fenced copse, there are no other shepherds huts around...although friendly owners if you need help are close at hand on the farm. There is an outdoor table and bench as well as a lovely fire pit...plenty of logs available. PRACTICAL STUFF: Hot water from the gas boiler, light from the solar panels, heaps of cleverly designed storage for bags and boots, thick inches of sheeps wool insulation keeping it warm all year. Basics, including soap, loo paper and cleaning materials are included, as is all bedlinen and towels. Guests are welcome to use power sockets from an outbuilding at the owner's farm. PETS: A well behaved dog is really welcome. Please bring your dog's bed with you. The small field that the huts are in is not 100% fenced for pets. Please be mindful of other animals on site during your stay. INFANTS: Infants are welcome please provide own travel cot. PACK YOUR BOOTS : There's a wonderful farm to explore, so welly boots are well worth packing! ARRIVAL : 4pm. The views are amazing and there is a short walk to the huts from the car, so it is well worth trying to arrive at the huts during daylight hours, so you can appreciate the miles of stunning countryside. Torches and lanterns are available for those who are making a later dash to the hills from the office.
