Take a ride on the Ffestiniog or Welsh Highland Steam Railways at Porthmadog, or visit the Italian village of Portmeirion. Blaenau Ffestiniog is close by with attractions such as Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Zipworld Titan, Bounce Below and Antur Stiniog Mountain Bike Centre with its various downhill trails, ensuring there really is something for everyone. Llanaelhaearn is nestled at the foot of Yr Eifl hills, about 3 miles south of the village of Trefor. Though small, the village offers a church, sub-Post Office, café and a lovely bakery. Granite from Yr Eifl quarry has been used for many years to make Olympic curling stones, as well as many curb stones found in the larger towns and cities of England and Wales.
