Chacewater is a small village, just five miles from Truro in Cornwall. The village lies in the centre of what once was a great mining district, producing more copper and tin than anywhere else in the world. The village and sandy beach of Portreath are a short drive away, as are the north and south coasts of Cornwall, with their unspoilt beaches and rugged coastal walking trails stretching for miles. Truro is Cornwall’s only city and has a magnificent cathedral, the Royal Cornwall Museum and the theatre and concert venue, the Hall for Cornwall, as well as a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. In Falmouth you will find the third largest natural harbour in the world, where you can take boat trips up the Carrick Roads, safe beaches, the National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle, which was built by Henry VIII and is the town’s most popular attraction. Fans of classic cars will enjoy a visit to Perranwell Station where you can hire a Morgan car for the day. Nearby, in the Bissoe Valley, is Bissoe Bike Hire. Hire a bike for the day and enjoy the sights of the old mining works and beautiful wooded valleys as you cycle coast to coast from Portreath to Devoran, or just enjoy a snack in the café. Visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the National Trust owned Trelissick and Glendurgan Gardens, as well as the 26-acre sub-tropical garden of Trebah and the Eden Project, all of which can be reached easily in the car. A short trip on the King Harry Ferry will take you to the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, which is well worth a visit. Chacewater is the perfect Cornish holiday base, with something to please everyone within easy driving distance.
