This charming cottage is perfect for those wishing to escape into a rural idyll in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Retaining much character, this cottage has wonderful heavy beamed ceilings, beautiful old doors and a rustic inglenook fireplace housing a cosy woodburning stove. Warm and welcoming, the cottage boasts a modern kitchen and underfloor heating, whilst the wooden spiral staircase leads up to two comfortable bedrooms. From the sitting room, French doors open on to the garden, a quiet spot to sit and relax in. You can walk in three different directions to join the walking trails on the Thornham Estate, which include bird hides and woodland paths, plus some of these paths are suitable for push chairs. Thornham Magna has a lovely gift shop and cafe, which is situated at the Red House Yard, the main entrance and car park for Thornham Walks, plus a children's play area is located here. A one mile walk away is a pub offering good locally produced beer and food, and the village of Gislingham, just 1.5 miles away, also has a pub, a children's play area and shops selling locally produced food and drink. The nearby town of Eye also offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, whilst the historic market town of Diss has quaint narrow streets with a host of interesting shops and a central six acre mere. An hour's drive brings you to the scenic coastline of Suffolk and the popular seaside resort of Southwold with its long pier and painted beach huts. There is a market every Friday and coincides with a local antiques and collectables auction. The town of Stowmarket is close by and provides an 18-hole golf course along with Suffolk's only open-air museum and a variety of shops and pubs. The Suffolk Coast, Thetford Forest with its Go Ape high wire experience and the Steam Museum at Bressingham are all within easy driving distance.
