For a lovely day out visit one of the several stately homes in the area like Burton Contable Hall & Gardens, Burton Agnes Hall, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Wassand Hall, or the National Trust's Maister House. A drive less than ten miles can bring you to the coastal town of Hornsea, home to Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire's largest freshwater lake and popular for birdwatching, rowing, sailing, boat trips and fishing, as well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with a café by the waters as well, you can spend a fun-filled day here. The market town of Beverley, one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets, is home to an amazing 13th century Gothic Minster as well as a lively market, and a racecourse with regular flat racing and excellent family-friendly race days. Many more attractions can be found in the city of Hull with its aquarium, The Deep, Streetlife Museum, cinemas and great choice of restaurants and pubs, as well as nearby Bridlington further north on the coast being home to a wealth of classic British seaside attractions and fun with a beautiful long sandy beach.
