This historic apartment is set above one of the most interesting bookshops in the centre of the picturesque town of Hay on Wye in the Welsh Marches. With wonderful views over the town and across the Wye Valley to Clyro, it is also just steps from Hay s narrow lanes, independent cafes, charming bookshops and curious shops. Once you have finished browsing the town's shops and eateries, walk down to the River Wye for a picnic or a dip at The Warren (0.5 miles), or explore the area by mountain bike or even canoe, both of which can be hired from the town. Head south into Brecon Beacons National Park to explore its mountains and hills, Abergavenny (26 miles) and Brecon (16 miles). Equipped with all the modern comforts you would expect, this ancient building still retains plenty of original charm, through exposed beams, oak stairs and uneven ceilings. A flight of 16th century oak stairs leads to the three bedrooms on the first floor, all of which boast oak beams and flooring and carefully chosen neutral decor. A king size with a small balcony and two twin bedrooms share a spacious and light bathroom with shower over the bath. Another flight of slightly steeper oak stairs lead to the open plan living area with sloping ceilings. The bright kitchen is perfect for entertaining and contains an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Dine at the long table before retiring to the cosy lounge area where inviting sofas are arranged around a gas effect wood burner, set against an exposed stone wall. When you re not lost in a newly acquired book from downstairs, relax in front of the Freeview TV/DVD. Together with the small balcony off the master bedroom, there is a small courtyard to the rear of the property. From here, the Blackfold footpath leads to parking in a nearby town car park.
