The village of Appledore offers a bustling quayside which is a hive of activity when the boats come ashore and families enjoying crabbing. You can stroll the narrow streets, duck in and out of the small shops, cafes, and restaurants, and get an insight into Appledore s history at the maritime museum. Across the river is Instow with a delightful sandy beach, which can be reached in the car or via the short passenger ferry trip from Appledore quay. (Summertime only) The nearby beach at Westward Ho! is also a short drive from the apartment and is popular with surfers, swimmers and families. For those keen for an adventure, the Exmoor & Dartmoor National Park are close by and offer wonderful walks with plenty of history. The traffic free Tarka Trail offers a cycle/walking route which can take you to nearby Barnstaple or Torrington.
