There are local facilities, such as restaurants and bars that also overlook the River Leven and Lake Windermere. There is a range of outdoor pursuits on offer, with several adventure centres nearby offering the chance to have a go at climbing, canyoning, and ghyll scrambling amongst other activities. Only a short walk away is the historic Haverthwaite steam railway which takes you to the base of Lake Windermere at Lakeside, plus the motor museum and local aquarium.
