The Bure Marshes National Nature Reserve is just one of the many places within a short drive where you can enjoy a walk through the wetlands and marshes and of course Wroxham Broad is just a few minutes up the road, Wroxham is the main centre locally for boat hire, and offers a variety of different types and sizes of boat for exploring the miles of waterways and enjoying the beautiful natural scenery, Salhouse is also an ideal base for days out at the beach, being only 25 minutes away by car. Salhouse is well served by public transport, having its own station with regular trains into Norwich or to Cromer on the Norfolk coast, there is also a regular bus service to Norwich City centre where you can take time to explore the Cathedral and its many other historic buildings or enjoy a night out at the theatre. Wroxham is commonly known as the “Capital of the Broads” and is the main centre for boating on the Broads. It is home to a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants as well as numerous boating emporia. Wroxham is home to a railway station with trains regularly running to Norwich or the coast, or you can spend a day on the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow gauge steam and diesel service running between the market town of Aylsham and Wroxham.
