Two miles north on the A592 is the pretty village of Troutbeck, home to two traditional pubs with log fires, great food and ales: The Queens Head and the Mortal Man. You’ll also discover beautiful Holehird Gardens, and the National Trust’s fascinating Townend House. Further on you climb up to the magnificent Kirkstone Pass, then drop down to Brotherswater & Ullswater. High View is a wonderful place to base yourself for a lovely trip to the Lakes.
