The magnificent Muncaster Castle is a 25 minute drive away, and boasts beautiful gardens, a playground, bird of prey displays, and even ghost hunting tours. Explore the coastline and you are likely to come across the town of Whitehaven. Nearby is Whitehaven Golf Club for any avid golfers, here you can have a bite to eat or enjoy a drink. Further outdoor opportunity can be seized within the Lake District National Park, including a challenging hike up Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, just 19 miles away. You are well-placed for exploring the Western lakes of the Lake District National Park, with Wast Water, Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater all within easy reach and offering great opportunities for walking, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Alternatively, head to the coast for a day in St Bees, a pleasant village where you can find a beach and many glorious clifftop walks, which are also home to one of England’s most important seabird colonies.
