The nearby market town of Barnard Castle offers a 16th century castle and bridge which makes for a scenic spot, as well as a number of museums and galleries, and the Deepdale Nature Reserve which has the River Tees running through. In the opposite direction, you can discover the bustling city of Durham where you can explore the Roman Cathedral and Norman Castle, as well as enjoy a good shopping spree! Also in the area there is the striking Raby Castle, where you can explore its treasures and tapestries, as well as the deer park to get in touch with nature with a lovely farm shop tea room to enjoy.
