The area is renowned for its excellent walking - the chalk grasslands of Martin Down, 300 yards away, are a national nature reserve and there are several bridle paths which offer superb riding as well. Princess Cottage offers an ideal holiday retreat for couples or small families wishing to explore the area. The cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, Southampton, with its maritime history and ferries to the Isle of Wight, Poole and Bournemouth, with its sandy beaches, are all within easy driving distance. Visit the New Forest and its many attractions, including Beaulieu Palace, Exbury Gardens and Bucklers Hard, as well as many cycling and horse riding trails.
