The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities. Golf courses, sailing, horse riding, cycling, walking and fishing are all available close by and there are tennis and swimming pools in nearby Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dumfries. There are many quaint villages to explore, including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William, known as the ‘Machars of Galloway’ and presented with the ‘Pride of Galloway’ award, and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish coast. Take a day trip to Ireland from Cairnryan. Dumfries with shops, restaurants, museums and a theatre and Castle Douglas, Scotlands Food Town, are both close by. Explore the many beautiful beaches along the Solway coast. The beach is 10 miles away. Craigadam Lodge is situated on an organic farm and there may be some times when certain areas of the extensive land are not available.
