Within a 10-mile radius there are two racecourses, picturesque villages and fishing harbours, sandy coves and the high moorlands of Dartmoor. The Roman city of Exeter is approximately 15 miles, whilst bustling Torbay, 9 miles, which encompasses Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, has theatres, a yachting marina and a selection of fine gardens to visit; in addition to Kent’s Cavern, where the remains of some of Britain’s very earliest inhabitants (dating back approximately 25,000 years) were found. Here you’ll find castles, abbeys, wildlife parks, steam trains and model railways all within easy reach, with many open throughout the year.
