Bonsall’s residents have been involved in the textile industry, pre and post Arkwright. In the early modern times it was on an important salters’ route, and was a staging post on the road between Derby and Manchester. It is just a short drive away from the famous Arkwright Mills at Cromford, with Matlock and Bakewell also close by. The picturesque village of Crich with its fantastic Tramway Village and Chatsworth House and Carsington Reservoir, with its sailing centre, watersports and cycle route are all just a short drive away.
