There are many fine walks direct from the property, including along Offa’s Dyke, Kerry Ridgeway and the Shropshire Way. Montgomery 6 miles is the nearest town and as well as being home to Montgomery Castle, Robbers Grave and Old Gaol, it is a small town bursting with life. It has a Michelin star restaurant, pubs, cafés and several individual and unique shops plus a weekly market. Nearby, there are further medieval and historic towns such as Bishops Castle with individual shops and quirky architecture, Shrewsbury with its famous abbey, Ludlow with a wide selection of tea rooms and eateries, Bridgnorth, home to the Severn Valley Railway, Ironbridge, the birthplace of industry, Welshpool with a selection of shops and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway and Newtown are all close by. There are four National Trust properties in the surrounding area, Powys Castle, Attingham Park, Chirk Castle and Erddig. There are also a number of adventure centres offering a wide variety of activities such as quad biking, paintballing, ropes courses and abseiling. Shop 4½ miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
