Located in the village of Farndon and just 9 miles from the historical city of Chester, The Old Post Office is a charming terraced cottage that offers bright accommodation, which is well located for exploring both sides of the England/Wales border. Downstairs is an open plan living/dining room/kitchen, with stairs leading to two comfortable bedrooms and a well-appointed family bathroom. Outdoors is a small enclosed seating area, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or catching the last of the evening sun. Located on the high street, the cottage is just a few minutes’ walk to the village’s amenities, which include a restaurant, coffee shop, butchers, newsagents, pharmacy, post office, general store and florists, which is owned by Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell. The village has several historical buildings; including the Grade I listed bridge over the River Dee, which links Farndon to the Welsh village of Holt. By standing on the bridge, you can literally have one foot in England and one foot in Wales. Visit Chester, with its wealth of historical buildings, old city walls, cathedral, racecourse, excellent shopping, bars, restaurants and of course, the popular tourist attraction Chester Zoo. Other cities within easy driving distance include Liverpool, Shrewsbury and Manchester, which can all be reached in under an hour. Over in Wales, the market town of Wrexham is just 6 miles away and there is a bus service which links Wrexham to Chester via Farndon, should you wish to leave the car behind. For those who prefer the coast, the North Wales beaches of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llandudno are all within an hour’s drive. Other places worth visiting include Llangollen, 19 miles and Snowdonia, 40 miles. There are lots of great walks and cycle routes in the area, as well as several golf courses within 5 miles.
