The bustling village of Drumnadrochit, set on the shores of Loch Ness and at the head of Urquhart Bay, has a number of good restaurants, pubs and is also the home to the Loch Ness Centre and the ruins of the Urquhart Castle. There are many attractions of scenic and historical interest within easy reach including Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Cawdor and Brodie Castles, or take a trip along the Malt Whisky Trail – the only one of its kind in the world! Visit some of the beautiful, scenic fishing villages of the Moray coastline – voted one of the world’s top 20 coastal destinations! Inverness, which is the capital of the highlands, is only 14 miles away, where you will find a large variety of shops, fine restaurants, pubs, theatre, museums and galleries. Amongst the many activities available are boat trips and watersports on Loch Ness (it’s a good monster spotting area) and the Moray coast, mountain biking and walking in the many forest trails. It is also a great place for photography with a huge abundance of birds and wildlife on the doorstep.
