This delightful, 18th century, semi-detached cottage has been lovingly renovated by the owners to create a romantic retreat in what is still a largely undiscovered part of West Wales. Sited on a 9-acre working smallholding you can enjoy all aspects including rare breed pigs, sheep, chickens, geese and a resident Shetland pony. Ysgubor Bach, once a barn and grain store with thick stone walls, now offers contemporary country living for two in luxurious surroundings. The icing on the cake is the delightful enclosed garden and patio with a fabulous hot tub. You can sit under the stars and appreciate the sounds of nature whilst sipping on a glass of something chilled. Many local public footpaths are available. One runs through the smallholding and opens up walking opportunities and enhances the owners designated dog walking areas with strategically placed picnic tables. Outdoor activities are in abundance in the area with walking, cycling, fishing and water sports all available. You are only a 30-minute drive from stunning Cardigan Bay and here you can explore the beaches and coves littered along it. Visit the quaint and colourful towns of New Quay and Aberaeron where a variety of events are held throughout the season. There’s a delightful choice of cafes, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Why not take a boat to spot the resident bottlenose dolphins out in the bay? You can fish on the River Teifi or walk or cycle through the ancient Brechfa Forest. The bustling little town of Lampeter is just over 5 miles away and offers a range of amenities including a leisure centre, local museum and supermarkets, and a great choice of cafes serving homemade cakes. The regular farmer’s market is worth a visit and, if you are around in late July, don’t miss the Food Festival in the grounds of the university college. Just 15 minutes further on from Lampeter you will find the fascinating Dolaucothi Goldmines (National Trust) where you can take an underground tour year round. Another National Trust property is Llanerchaeron just outside Aberaeron which can be reached on foot from the town along a level gravelled walk that follows the old railway line. The house is an elegant Georgian villa set in a wooded valley and is unaltered for over 200 years. The estate includes a farm, walled gardens and lake, and of course a cafe! Ysgubor Bach is waiting to welcome you to this most beautiful part of Wales where the local culture thrives and the possibilities for a lovely stay are endless. Beach 14 miles. Shop and pub 1¾ miles, restaurant 4 miles. Free WiFi
