This carefully renovated 250 year old forge is perfect for a break in the beautiful southern borders of the Peak District National Park. It is set within the wonderful rural countryside of Alderwasley, surrounded by a scattering of farms, a couple of local pubs and undisturbed views for miles. Fabulously converted, this cottage offers an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner. Upstairs you will find a double bedroom with a contemporary en-suite bathroom offering a walk-in shower and a bath to soak in after a busy day in the Peaks. Alderwasley is a walker’s paradise, with footpaths right from the doorstep that lead to views of both the Derwent and Ecclesbourne Valley and endless trails through the Shining Cliff Woods. Wirksworth is the nearest and most charming of market towns on the edge of the White Peak, which is full of character and has many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Guests will enjoy exploring the ancient courtyards, the National Stone Centre, and the array of daytime and evening eateries, welcoming pubs and quirky shops. There is plenty of events throughout the year including, the very popular arts festival that attracts international performers of every kind. There are lots on offer nearby including Carsington Water which offers cycling and sailing, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the famous Matlock. Matlock boasts a host of family attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham with its owl maze, water gardens and caves. Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is only a few miles away, and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is definitely worth a visit.
