Alderwasley is a walker’s paradise, with footpaths right from the doorstep that lead to views of both the Derwent and Ecclesbourne Valley and endless trails through the Shining Cliff Woods. Wirksworth is the nearest and most charming of market towns on the edge of the White Peak, which is full of character and has many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Guests will enjoy exploring the ancient courtyards, the National Stone Centre, and the array of daytime and evening eateries, welcoming pubs and quirky shops. There is plenty of events throughout the year including, the very popular arts festival that attracts international performers of every kind. There are lots on offer nearby including Carsington Water which offers cycling and sailing, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the famous Matlock. Matlock boasts a host of family attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham with its owl maze, water gardens and caves.
