This attractive, terraced stone cottage is set in a quiet corner on the edge of Chapel-en-le-Frith, outside the pretty village of Combs, which appeals to walkers and has a lovely pub/restaurant. Located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the cottage is warm, welcoming and deceptively spacious, and is perfectly placed for exploring this beautiful part of the High Peak. Traditionally furnished with a homely feel, this charming cottage has character beams and a cosy living room, perfect for relaxing in, whilst the front bedroom has a stunning view over Combs Reservoir. Outside, is a quiet, secluded courtyard area overlooking uninterrupted views of open countryside, where you can sit and enjoy the sun. Chapel-en-le-Frith means ‘Chapel in the Forest’, the ‘Chapel’ being the old Norman church which still stands in the market square with its original stocks. The forest has been replaced over the years by lovely old stone cottages. Market day is still Thursday, but is no longer a cattle market! The market place was filmed in the BBC drama ‘The Village’, where the Kings Arms featured as the old pub. The Peak District is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and climbers, with fantastic walks and cycle trails from the doorstep; Rose Cottage is within 5 minutes’ drive of Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve, close to Edale and Hope Valley. For golfers, Chapel-en-le-Frith has a beautiful 18-hole golf course less than a 10-minute walk away. Nearby attractions include Chatsworth House and Estate; Castleton with its Blue John Mines and underground caverns accessible by boat; famous Bakewell; Ladybower Reservoir, and Buxton Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. Children will love the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath, and the Tissington and Monsal Trails which are easy, level paths along old railway tracks for walking or cycling (bike hire is available). Public transport is very accessible from the property, with a bus stop placed directly opposite the front of the house; it is also on the Buxton-Manchester Airport route.
