Stranit is a beautiful detached cottage and makes an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful area. Refurbished in 2018, it is a comfortable little cottage with the added advantage of a delightful, garden which is ideal for children to play. Kelton is a small hamlet on the banks of the River Nith close to the county town of Dumfries. This corner of South West Scotland is truly beautiful from the Solway Coast to the lush inland forests and hills. There are many interesting visitor attractions within a stones throw of the cottage. Enjoy a day at Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, a spectacular 1400-acre wild reserve, just a few miles along the coast from Stranit. On your way pop in and stroll round the historical Caerlaverock Castle, or just sit and while away a few hours in the café or pub at nearby Glencaple overlooking the estuary. South West Scotland has so much to offer from many more interesting historical sites throughout the region, supreme mountain biking, to challenging hill walks and some of the darkest skies in the world, not to mention over 200 miles of stunning and dramatic coastline with secluded little bays and sandy beaches. Visit the county town of Dumfries with some high street shops, or the smaller towns of Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright have a variety of niche shops, art galleries and excellent restaurants.
