Just a two minute walk away and you are at the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway station where you can catch trains to Grosmont and Whitby, travelling across the moors strewn with heather and wonderful scenery. Stop off at Goathland, the village where the very popular TV series Heartbeat was filmed. Pickering has something for everybody from great little independent shops, an antique centre, wine bars, traditional pubs and great restaurants and takeaways. For those of you who love the great outdoors, Pickering is just on the edge of the Dalby Forest, great for walks or trying out the mountain bike trails. From the absolute beginner to the world class XC loops, there are lots of wonderful leisurely bike rides or challenging World Cup trails. Just 18 miles away is the east coast where Scarborough is one of the most popular resorts to visit but there are plenty to choose from. Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Filey and Flamborough Head to name just a few, all within a short drive. The wonderful city of York is less than an hours drive away.
