Apple Barn is in a great location, whether you’re looking for action packed adventure or just a relaxing and peaceful break, you have plenty to do in the area. If you like outdoor adventure including walking, cycling and climbing, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes around, while Skiddaw and Latrigg can be reached from the door, Blencathra and Catbells are within a few miles. Derwentwater offering sailing and other watersports is just 2 miles away. If you like culture check out the Theatre By The Lake, 2 miles away, with award winning arts and drama on the banks of Derwentwater where you can hire a rowing boat or even take a dip. Of course the bustling town of Keswick is just 1½ miles away which is an easy walk or a short 5 minute taxi ride if you want to leave the car behind and head out for a meal and a few drinks. Keswick is vibrant with a great outdoor market. Its bustling centre has an abundance of quality restaurants, pubs serving local cask ales, independent shops and the obligatory outdoor and fashion brands. Plenty of deli’s, bakeries, coffee shops and local craft stalls. For family fun why not try Puzzling Place, a mind boggling attraction based on optical illusions or the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the largest pencil in the world.
