There are many great places worth visiting, nearby is the Roman town of Corbridge, filled with quaint coffee shops and boutique shops, along with a beautiful river walk and the Roman wall for the history enthusiast. Just a few miles away, you will find the Terris Novalis, two striking pieces of sculpture relating to the old steel works of the town. Walking enthusiasts will enjoy the many walks around the town of Consett, whilst cyclists can take the C2C cycle route, taking in many lovely views. While Durham is 20 minutes away and Newcastle city 30 minutes drive. Surrounded by acres of grounds and fields, there is also a full size tennis court directly behind the cottage, which visitors are welcome to enjoy.
