This 200 year old period detached, Northumbrian farm worker’s cottage has undergone complete renovation in 2020 whilst maintaining the original character and charm throughout. The entrance porch with its karndean flooring leads to feature oak staircase with traditional ledge and brace doors throughout. It is bursting with original features, the exposed beams and inglenook fireplace with wood burner are sure to delight all age groups. Set in 2-acres of rugged moorland with a large patio terrace overlooking the river with uninterrupted views towards the Scottish Borders and the open wilderness. The cottage itself is sympathetically restored to a high standard, offering visitors a warm and welcoming stay, spend some time curled up in front of the wood burner on a cool evening after visiting the local attractions. The marshlands near the river are home to common newts and water voles which have been re-introduced to Kielder by a Forestry Commission project and is supported by local residents. Whilst staying in this beautiful location you are almost certain to see deer, badgers and a huge variety of birds, large and small including barn owls and buzzards. With no light pollution at the cottage this is a star gazers dream, either outside or inside from the viewing window on the first floor. Whilst Kielder is in the National Park, day trips can easily be taken further afield onto the Scottish Borders or over to Hadrians Wall, taking in Corbridge and Hexham, and even a trip to the coast makes a lovely change. The area is renowned for its water sports, cycling and walking, and Kielder Winter Wonderland before Christmas is a special treat for all ages. Trips to Kielder Observatory are recommended for star gazers but remember to pre-book.
