Meggerland is situated on the coast in the small hamlet of Kirkandrews. It was built in 1907, in the Arts & Crafts style by James Brown. It is part of the Knockbrex Estate which also includes: Kirkandrews Kirk and the ‘Coo Palace’ nearby. This comfortably appointed cottage, completely renovated for 2020, is the ideal place to relax and unwind with views looking out over the Solway coast. There’s plenty to keep you occupied with beaches on the doorstep and opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing, golfing, or other outdoor activities. Local attractions include museums and galleries, historic castles and renowned gardens. Meggerland is only two miles from the village of Borgue which has a pub and restaurant. A further short drive away is the pretty bustling harbour town of Kirkcudbright, designated as ’Scotland’s Artists Town’ and popular with the Scottish Colourists, many of whom lived in the town in the early 1900s. Kirkcudbright hosts many activities and events held all year round and offers a good selection of cafés, pubs and restaurants. The larger town of Castle Douglas is 16 miles away and the regional capital of Dumfries is approximately 33 miles east, offering access to the national rail network and making this a wonderful base to tour south west Scotland.
