First Floor: Bedroom 1: With double bed and en-suite with shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail. Bedroom 2: With single bed (for child), vaulted ceiling (limited head height at one side) and en-suite with bath, toilet and heated towel rail.. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and logs for wood burner included. Welcome pack. Lawned garden with sitting-out area and garden furniture. On road parking. No smoking. Lavender Cottage is situated in the pretty village of Wolsingham, often referred to as the Gateway to the Durham Dales. On the first floor is a double bedroom with attractive double bed and en-suite shower room. There is also a pretty single bedroom for a child with vaulted ceiling and an en-suite bathroom with Velux window. Outside, guests have use of a lawned area, which is a wonderful spot to sit in and enjoy a sunny day. Perfectly situated in the village of Wolsingham, Lavender Cottage is the ideal place for guests who want to get out and explore this beautiful part of the country. Situated in picturesque Weardale, in the North Pennines, it is part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is an Italian restaurant within 25 yards and a choice of local pubs serving food, as well as a good choice of cafés and local shops. The cottage is situated right at the heart of the village where all the amenities are within easy walking distance, and the location is perfect for walkers, cyclists and ramblers wanting to explore the Durham Dales and North Pennines. Guests will find plenty of established local footpaths, cycle routes and bridleways which lead directly from Wolsingham and into some of the most spectacular countryside that the area has to offer. A beautiful walk around the Tunstall reservoir is under 3 miles away. The popular town of Stanhope is only 6 miles; here you will find the Durham Dales Centre with plenty of specialist information. Only 16 miles away is Durham with plenty of historic attractions, including the famous cathedral and castle, as well as a variety of boutique shops, cafés and bistros. There are plenty of riverside walks, street festivals and artists, theatre, cinema and a leisure centre in the heart of the city. Great too for visiting friends and family at any of Durham University campuses. Visitors to the annual historic and increasingly popular Kynren spectacle in Bishop Auckland can have the best of both worlds as Wolsingham is within a 10-mile drive. The lead mining museum in Killhope, 20 miles, is another popular attraction and shows the history of how lead was mined in the Weardale area. Newcastle upon Tyne, the Metrocentre, Barnard Castle, Derwent Reservoir and Alston, which is the highest market town in England, can all be reached within an hour’s drive. A little further afield but still within an hour and a half’s driving distance, are the Lake District, Northumbria, Hadrian’s Wall, Middleton-in-Teesdale and the spectacular High Force Waterfall, which is the highest in England.
