John Lively Cottage is just over a 10-minute drive away from the many university buildings and halls of residence. The property is nestled away overlooking the Grade I listed Norman church of St Helen situated in Church Kelloe. The church is famous for a Norman cross dedicated to St Helen and for a tablet commemorating the birth of Elizabeth Barrett Browning at nearby Coxhoe Hall in 1806. John Lively Cottage dates back to before the 1600’s and has plenty of historic connections. This detached cottage, adjacent to the owners home, was once the original vicarage for the church and maintains many of its original features, yet after a recent renovation by the current owners there are ample modern comforts to enjoy alongside the historic features. Beautifully renovated to a good standard, guests will find a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area on the ground floor. With good quality fixtures and fittings, views across to the church and a fantastic wood burner, guests will find themselves cosy and warm at any time of year.
