The whole family can enjoy the resort of Eastbourne, affectionately known as the ’Empress of Watering Places’ and its award-winning beaches. Walk along the cliffs and marine conservation area or wind surf off Royal Parade. Walkers, cyclists, fishermen and pets are welcome at Harbour Reach Beach. Not only can you hire bikes but during the summer months you can even hire a beach hut for a day or a week. Meads Village is located at the westerly end of Eastbourne nestling beneath the magnificent South Downs and there are great pubs, interesting eateries and individual shops on the doorstep. The South Downs has recently been designated as a National Park and is a nature lover’s paradise with over 6,000 square miles of superb views. Within the National Park are the Seven Sisters, a series of chalk cliffs on one of Britain’s finest unspoilt coastlines. Days out can include English Heritage owned Pevensey Castle, originally a Saxon Shore fort, and where William the Conqueror landed. After the conquest, an imposing Norman fort was built - look out for the ghost of the Pale Lady of Pevensey! Don’t miss Drusillas Park, widely regarded as the best small zoo in the country, covering 10 acres, and apart from the animals, take a ride on Thomas the Tank engine. Beach 300 yards.
