Now a comfortable holiday home, the cottage sits within the Dartmoor National Park and has direct access to open moorland and the Granite Way cycle route. The cottage enjoys stunning views of Dartmoor and has been thoughtfully and tastefully furnished to reflect its rich past, whilst also providing a warm welcome. The Old Railway Cottage offers an ideal gateway for a couple or small family looking for a quiet haven in which to relax and unwind. There is a small sitting-out area at the front of the property and a larger detached garden to the rear, a picnic basket is available if you wish to enjoy lunch on the moors. There is also a cosy wood burner in the living room, perfect for snuggling up in front of after a busy day of exploring this great part of Devon. The Old Railway Cottage is located just outside the pretty village of Lydford. Here you will find two popular local pubs, historic Lydford Castle with its dark past, a well-stocked local farm shop and the renowned Lydford Gorge, a National Trust property. The gorge is home to the impressive Whitelady Waterfalls and the boiling waters of the Devils Cauldron. The cottage sits almost equal distance between the historic market towns of Tavistock and Okehampton. Both towns have a good range of amenities, shops, restaurants, parks and a sports and swimming centre. The cottage offers a walkers paradise and for exploring further afield, and both the north and south coasts of Devon are within reach, each providing their own unique landscapes and attractions.
