The pretty village of High Bickington is just 1 mile away and offers two popular village inns serving food, along with a community shop and church. The small Tarka trainline passes through the nearby village of Umberleigh, on its journey between Exeter and Barnstaple. Nearby you can also hire a bike and enjoy a days cycling or dog walking on the nearby Tarka Trail. Great Torrington, 6 miles has supermarkets, local shops, pannier market, pubs and restaurants along with the highly acclaimed Plough Arts Centre, which houses a theatre, music, live entertainment, small cinema, café and art gallery.
