Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet in this most appealing detached cottage, set down a quiet lane in the peaceful hamlet of Ballindean, just 7 miles south of Dundee. Ideally placed for exploring the delights of Perthshire and Tayside, the property is comfortable and retains some of its original features – the diamond paned windows and wood burner in particular add a cosy ambience to the cottage. Surrounded by the fertile farmlands of the Carse of Gowrie, renowned for soft fruit growing, the cottage is in a very pleasant location in which to spend a break exploring the delights of Perthshire, Tayside or the East Neuk of Fife. Easy access to both Perth and Dundee make this an excellent touring base and an hour’s drive will take you to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and the Highlands. Locally there are good walking routes to be explored and for golfers, St Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles are all within an easy drive. Hillwalkers can explore the 5 Angus Glens situated to the north west, whilst for history lovers, the nearby Discovery Point in Dundee is well worth a visit, home to the vessel used by Captain Robert Scott during his 1901 to 1904 Antarctic expedition. Visit the Cairn o’ Mhor Winery nearby, specializing in fruit wines from local sources, with seasonal tours available, a good alternative to the national drink, but if whisky is your bag, then a trip to the Glenturret Distillery in Crieff, the oldest working distillery in Scotland, or Lindores Abbey Distillery, are both good options. Alternatively, spend time at the Abernyte Antique centre, a 5-minute drive away, with a good café/restaurant and huge supply of Scottish antiques. Beach 14¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.
