There is a wealth of things to do while you are here and is ideally placed to explore everything this delightful corner of south west Scotland known as The Machars has to offer. The Isle of Whithorn, only 3 miles away, is an attractive little harbour village on the Machars Peninsula where you can enjoy a meal in the village pub and restaurant. Visit Wigtown, which has officially been designated as Scotland’s National Book Town with a wide range of book related businesses, a book lovers haven. The larger town of Newton Stewart known as the Gateway to the Galloway Hills, also has many excellent shops and places to eat. With the Galloway Forest and Dark Skies Park close by, Bel-Mar is ideally placed to enjoy your stay whether it be a relaxing or action packed adventure. Enjoy the rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf stream. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. The area boasts many pretty little ports like Sandhead, Portpatrick and the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer.
