At Porthmadog, be sure to take your bucket and spade and visit the lovely sandy beach at Black Rock Sands, or have a day out in the fascinating Italianate village of Portmeirion, built by Sir Clough Williams Ellis. Formerly the slate quarrying capital of the world, Blaenau Ffestiniog has quickly established itself for those seeking exciting adrenaline attractions, with Zip World offering the largest zip wire zone in the world, as you zoom high over the old slate quarries, the unique Bounce Below offers a trampoline net experience deep underground, and the Stiniog Downhill Bike Trails has fun for keen mountain bikers. Of course, you can also go underground and experience the world of the Victorian slate miner too at Llechwedd Slate Quarry.
