Ilam is a quaint village nestled beside the River Manifold on the Staffordshire and Derbyshire border. The village is home to Ilam Park, 158 acres of parkland managed by the National Trust and just perfect for families with gentle riverside walks and a tea room garden. Close by you’ll also find the beautiful Dovedale valley and the Dovedale Stepping Stones, which have been a huge draw for the Peak District since they were laid in the mid-19th century. A plethora of walking and cycling is available for all abilities through stunning scenery, and the quintessential English market town of Ashbourne is just a 15-minute drive away, where you’ll find many pubs, café’s, restaurants and antique shops. For wonderful day trips many Peak District towns, villages and attractions can be reached within an hour, including Chatsworth House and the ever popular market town of Bakewell. There’s Carsington Water, Matlock, Matlock Bath and the cable car ride up to The Heights of Abraham.
