Lanteglos Highway a hamlet in the ancient and historic parish of Lanteglos, is situated to the east of the River Fowey. The area is a wonderful choice for both coastal and inland walks, and exploring the nearby villages and attractions. The neighbouring village of Bodinnick provides regular vehicle access to Fowey by ferry, as does the foot ferry from Polruan, and is just a short distance away. The pretty harbourside town of Fowey is steeped in history with views overlooking the stunning Fowey Estuary and has so much to offer. Take a leisurely walk around the town and sample a Cornish cream tea overlooking the busy and vibrant harbour, or take a look around the many craft shops and art galleries. Fowey Regatta is on every August, and it’s a fun-filled week of sailing races, crab catching and children’s entertainment. The stunning Cornish coast is less than two miles from Lanteglos Highway. Lantic Bay (owned by the National Trust) has a superb large and sheltered beach which is perfect for swimming, sunbathing and paddling. The views from the South West Coast Path above the beach are breathtaking.Other places of interest nearby to explore are the pretty riverside village of Lerryn, the fishing village of Polperro and the historic town of Lostwithiel. If you wish to explore, the famous Eden Project is a short drive away, and they also host concerts and themed events throughout the year to keep children and adults entertained. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is certainly worth a visit. Set in 200 acres of garden history that were once lost under brambles, they have been restored to their former glory, should you wish to venture further afield, Cornwall’s capital, Truro, has an impressive cathedral and many things to do for all ages. Padstow, St Ives, Looe and Port Isaac are all within easy reach by car. Beautiful beaches, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds are all on the doorstep of this lovely cottage.
