Set within open countryside on an Alpaca farm, Little Owl Lodge offers spacious and attractive accommodation whatever the time of year. The single level accommodation is perfect for anyone with limited mobility with plenty of space inside to move around, and the Lodge is fully and effectively centrally heated. The layout of the living area is open plan, very spacious, and features an attractive wood burning stove. The garden room has a large dining table and looks out across the rolling countryside, with an enviable view of the Alpacas as they graze in the fields. There are two spacious separate bathrooms, one with a low entry shower enclosure, equipped with safety alarm, (raised toilet seat available on request) grab rails and a fabulous infra-red sauna to relax and rejuvenate. The second bathroom is equipped with an air bath for those who like to pamper themselves. Outside features include a patio and lawned area, both with incredible views of the surrounding countryside and set with a bistro table and chairs, a picnic table and Pergola. With so much to enjoy in the outdoors, wrap up and take a stroll around the beautiful countryside and open fields, or take a short drive to the beauty spots and waterfalls of Upper Teesdale. The village of Butterknowle is 1 mile away where you will find the local pub, and there is a farm shop/ cafe is about 1/2 a mile from the Lodge. The charming market town of Barnard Castle is 6.5 miles away, with lovely riverside walks; home to the magnificent Bowes Museum, and castle ruins. It also has a host of interesting galleries and antique shops, independent shops and a good choice of coffee shops and restaurants. The market town of Bishop Auckland is 10 miles away, brimming with history and culture, home to Auckland Castle and a Roman Fort, along with a theatre and art complex. The open-air spectacular show Kynren is re-enacted in the shadow of Auckland Castle, on Saturdays during the summer months - pre-booking is essential. The beautiful city of Durham is 20 miles away, home to a magnificent cathedral and castle with World Heritage Site status and noted for some of the best examples of Norman architecture in Europe.
