Spectacular cottage with very special views of Loch Ness and nearby mountains. Hamish’s Hame is a luxurious holiday home for two people.
. Perched on a plateau 700ft above Loch Ness, Hamish’s Hame is in a truly spectacular location. Enjoying views across the loch to the village of Dores and beyond to the rugged wilderness of the Monadhliath Mountains. Set in the scattered village of Abriachan, the house is surrounded not only by jaw-droppingly gorgeous views but also by a protected community-owned woodland which is a haven for wildlife and has some fantastic walking trails to enjoy. Red deer, red squirrel and pine marten all live in the Abriachan Forest, so it’s worth exploring a few times during your stay. The cottage was refurbished in 2020 and converted into a steading, originally built over a hundred years ago as an outbuilding for a farm or croft. You can see a group of outbuildings across the valley from Hamish’s Hame, framed beautifully by the conservatory windows, that resemble what this building would’ve looked like. The cottage has been masterfully converted and finished to a very high-quality standard. Hamish’s Hame offers outstanding, spacious and luxurious accommodation to guests and welcomes up to one well-behaved dog. Arriving at Hamish’s Hame you realise you’ve struck gold. There’s a feeling of being on the edge, but in a very good way! The land rolls away from the cottage towards Loch Ness which simply amplifies the surroundings and views. It somehow gives more space. There’s over half an acre of land and the owners have created some lovely seating areas as well as enclosing the garden to give peace of mind when the dog is out exploring. Entering through the main door you have the open plan kitchen/living room which is a fantastic vaulted space. The wood burner is a very welcome addition and there’s a basket of wood waiting for you upon arrival. Through the living room is the stunning conservatory with enormous views. There’s a welcome sofa in the conservatory too, as well as the dining room table. At the other end of the property beyond the kitchen is the characterful double bedroom and lovely walk-in shower room. The finishing touches throughout the property are second to none. The details just keep on giving to enrich your stay. Abriachan is a special spot. It has an almost alpine feel up in the hills above of Loch Ness. It also feels incredibly remote, which is amazing because you’re only 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of bustling Inverness. Truly the best of both worlds. Hamish’s Hame is therefore an excellent place to base yourself for a Highland holiday. You can be in Inverness in no time at all, strolling around Fort Augustus at the south end of Loch Ness in 30 minutes, exploring the Cairngorms National Park in just over 30 minutes and crossing the Skye Bridge in only 90 minutes. The options for adventures from this cottage are endless. A week is honestly not enough! Book Hamish’s Hame and have confidence that you have made an excellent choice.
