The main route though the village bypasses the pretty houses and narrow streets, which has preserved the peaceful atmosphere of the village centre, perfect for a relaxing base for your holiday in Perthshire. The cottage is a delight, with cosy rooms inside, and a sheltered patio and sitting-out area to the rear, where you can enjoy an alfresco drink or meal on sunny days. Abernethy is steeped in history; it is known as the home of the Pictish Kings and there is much evidence of their time here. Visit the 12th Century Round Tower, one of only 2 in Scotland, and climb to the top to enjoy panoramic views towards the Firth of Tay. The Fair City of Perth is a short drive away, with its concert hall, theatre, museum, art galleries, great shops and superb restaurants. There are many golf courses in the area, including St Andrews, less than an hour’s drive. Along the way, explore the beaches and villages of the east coast of Fife or head north for a day in the Highlands.
