Built back in the 1870’s, this quaint cottage is full of character and provides an ideal stay for guests wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, as well as the coastline with the seafaring town of Whitby just 15 minutes away. With beamed ceilings and a warming multi-fuel burner, Hart Cottage welcomes you on a quintessential cosy cottage holiday. Stepping inside you have the living room where you can unwind on the sofa in front of the crackling flames in the stove. Go through to the open-plan kitchen with the dining area, bathed in light from all of the windows which look across the back garden and the National Park beyond. The kitchen has everything you could wish for to create your favourite home cooked meals, from indulgent full English breakfasts to fuel the day ahead, to late evening suppers where you can reflect on the day’s events. On the ground floor you also have the family bathroom. Up the spiral stairs you have two well presented bedrooms, the master bedroom has a four poster double bed as well as wardrobes and drawers for all of your belongings. The second bedroom is a single, making this a great choice for friends travelling together as well as small families, or even couples looking for a little extra space. Outside at the rear of the property you have both an enclosed private yard as well as an added surprise. At the other side of your parking bay there is a large lawned garden, stretching down towards a wooded valley, with uninterrupted views across the countryside. Here in Glaisdale, just a 2-minute stroll away, you have the village inn which serves good ales as well as hearty pub meals. This friendly village has a butchers and a post office, with the River Esk meandering through the village. It is in an idyllic location with numerous public footpaths, including the Coast to Coast long distance trail passing the doorstep of this Glaisdale cottage. Out on the moors are the picture perfect villages of Hutton Le Hole, Pickering or Helmsley, with its castle and gardens all waiting to be explored. You can take even a trip through the moors on the Heritage steam train which runs from Whitby to Pickering. The coastline from Saltburn-by-the-Sea to Filey is a place of rugged beauty, with many isolated fishing villages such as Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay all just a short drive away. The property is situated just 9 miles from the town of Whitby with its year round events and festivals such as the Goth Weekend and the Steampunk Weekend. Famous for its link to Dracula, the abbey and its award-winning fish and chips, Whitby has something for everyone. Ride on horseback, glide over the sea on a paddleboard or even fly through the tree tops on a zip wire – there are lots of outdoor activities all within an hour’s drive.
