A traditional terraced stone cottage with great character retaining its original charm; what more could you want? This lovely cottage sits over three floors with the lower ground floor housing, the open plan kitchen and dining area which opens onto the amazing, tiered garden. The ground floor offers guests a chance to relax in front of the wood burner and has a large window to the rear which will captivate you with the views at all times of the year. On the first floor there is a large bedroom alongside a shower room. Starkholmes remains a favourite location with Matlock’s town centre facilities close by. Across the road from Owl Cottage, guests can dine and drink in a well-respected bar and eatery. The garden of this beautiful cottage really does take your breath away, in three tiers you will find a decking seating area, a stunning flower garden, then at the very bottom a quiet area to sit and enjoy the most fabulous views. For those who wish to explore, there are several footpaths straight from the cottage which lead straight into Matlock Bath and other fascinating areas close by. Located in the beautiful, wooded gorge of the River Derwent you will find Matlock Bath 1 mile from Matlock, surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs. Often being referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution it was developed as a Spa town in the 1800s and is also famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade. Today, Matlock Bath offers a selection of pubs and shops, Arkwright’s Cromford Mill, a world heritage site, and Venetian Nights during September and October, which feature decorated and illuminated boats floating along the river. The village boasts many attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom, the Peak District Mining Museum or you can enjoy a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car where you can take in the views in style. Why not take time out to visit the splendid Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Crich Tramway museum which are close by, or take advantage of good walking around the Derwent Valley and White Peak and cycling at Carsington Water and the High Peak Cycle Trail.
