Set within a working smallholding in County Durham countryside, in the small hamlet of East Headleyhope, 8 miles from the City of Durham and 10 miles from Bishop Auckland. With convenient access to the A68 and road networks, The Haybarn is ideally placed whether you are looking for a peaceful countryside break or an excellent base to explore County Durham’s coast, country and beyond. Restored in 2021 to offer a high standard of accommodation, blending traditional beams with contemporary furnishings, this first floor accommodation has a stylish open plan living space with fully equipped shaker style kitchen and spacious living area with a comfy corner sofa and Smart TV. There are two bedrooms, one kingsize, with other having twin beds, and separate shower room with double walk-in shower. Out in the paddocks, you will find an assortment of animal life with lambs, sheep, ducks and the family peacock, along with beautiful views off into the countryside. With a sunny outside patio, it’s a lovely spot to return to at the end of a day exploring. As the sun goes down, light the fire pit and BBQ and sit and enjoy the peace and tranquillity with your favourite tipple. Or, relax in your own private hot tub. The grounds extend around the property and off onto local trails. It’s a perfect spot to bring your furry friends, with plenty of space to exercise. Hamsterley Forest is one of the north’s most popular destinations for cyclists too and is only 12 miles away. Covering some of the most beautiful countryside and offering various bike trails and plenty of walks for guests of all abilities, including the very popular Gruffalo Trail for children. The Durham Dales villages of Wolsingham, Frosterley and Stanhope are just a short drive too. With many places to choose from within a short drive, the property lies only 10 miles away from Bishop Auckland, where the incredibly popular historic Kynren Spectacular is performed between July and September every year. Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle and Beamish Museum can all be reached within an easy 35-minute drive as well as the historic, cathedral city of Durham, 8 miles. Here you can wander around the cobbled streets and enjoy the assortment of shops, bars and restaurants, or take a stroll around the beautiful riverside.
